6 Things Every Teenager Should Do Every Morning

You have your regular morning routine. You get up, get dressed, hopefully brush your teeth, comb your hair, and run out the door to school. However, incorporating these six tips into your morning routine, and doing them within 20-30 minutes of waking up, will get you off to a winning start every day.

Do 10 Sit Ups – Before you even get out of bed, start your day off right with 10 sit ups. Don’t get up and move onto the floor. Instead, stay right there on your mattress and pull yourself up into a sitting position.

Those early morning sit ups will stretch your back and help maintain your posture. You’ll find you get out of bed feeling more refreshed and ready to start the day.

Tune Out the Outside World – Ignore your cellphone. If you can’t do that, turn it off. You need to set aside the time first thing in the morning for you and you alone. The rest of the world can wait. Take that time to think about the day ahead, and everything that you need to accomplish. Make sure that you plan everything out, and gather everything you need so that you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything.

Drink a Glass of Water – You might enjoy your coffee or tea to wake up, or an early morning glass of juice. But, water intake is very important. Starting your day off with a glass of water helps to rehydrate you after a good night’s sleep and helps get your metabolism moving again.

Give Your Brain a Workout – If you want to give your school day a boost, start your day off with some left/right brain exercises. Either jump up and down while rubbing your stomach with one hand and patting your stomach with the other, or brush your hair with the wrong hand. You can try eating with the wrong hand too.

Although these exercises are awkward to do, they’ll get both hemispheres of your brain working together, which will help you with thinking and reasoning throughout the day.

Another thing you can do to get both sides of your brain working at the same time is to move one leg in one direction, and move the opposite arm in the opposite direction. These exercises might sound easy, but they take concentration.

Read Something – Whether it’s the back of a cereal box or the morning paper, you should read something first thing every morning. It gets your mind working and gets you ready to face the day, whether for work, school, or a day on the town.

Not only that, but whether you’re reading the news or fiction, you’ll learn something. How can fiction teach you something? Every single time you read something, you’re learning about writing style and grammar. If you want to be a better writer, the single best thing you can do is to read more.

Enjoy a Good Breakfast – While this might seem like a no-brainer, many teenagers go to school on an empty stomach. Even if you aren’t hungry, breakfast is still important. If you can incorporate some protein into that breakfast, it’s even better. It fuels your body and your brain, and it gives you the energy you need to get through the day.

Why go through the day feeling tired and groggy, when you can start each day off at your best? By making sure you do these things within 30 of waking up each day, you can ensure that you’ll start the day off right, and feel great all day long.

FerrariFan01  - I wake up at 6. I do ten push ups, ten sit ups, fifteen minutes on a punchbag and I run three kilometers so my brain kicks into first gear. Then, a quick cold shower and a full English breakfast. All this until 8am, when I have to be at school - Apr 20 2015 - Like
